SOCAL Junior Girls / Collegiate Partners Golf Championship

Thanks for signing up for this year's event!  Here is important pre tournament info please review and if any questions feel free to reply.  We currently still have room for a few more teams if you want to reach out to friends.  Look for the tee times and rules sheets and all the final details via email towards the end of next week and the first day times for Tues 12-27 at La Mirada will also be posted on sbplgc.com/socalgirls.htm at the same time. Some teams had one person sign up and pay for both players and in this case the system did NOT capture the email for the other partner so if this applies please reply to me with your partner's email so I can add them to the communications.

  • Tee Times will start at 8:30 both days and will be generally assigned for the first day in the order of sign ups.  If anyone has a legitimate conflict that causes a need to have a certain time range or wants to be late due to drive time, please reply NOW and we will try to assist on a best efforts basis.  Please do not ask just based on a general preference for a certain or early time.  Once the times are published it's hard if not impossible to make changes.
  • Tee times for day 2 at Lakewood will be re-assigned based on day 1 scores.  UNLIKE other events, we have the leaders go FIRST the second day as this facilitates if playoffs are needed.
  • Tees will be a combo of whites and reds(La Mirada)/Silvers(Lakewood).  See the attachment so you can see the yardage that each hole will play.  La Mirada will be par 71 and Lakewood par 74.
  • There are no special arrangements for practice rounds just contact the courses in the normal ways to book public tee times if you are interested.
  • We will have live scoring and paper cards for back ups.  A link will be provided to follow the live scoring.  All players please be sure you have the golf genius app loaded onto your cell phones in advance and are prepared to use it.
  • Format - I have had some questions as not all players have played in partner's events in the past.  We are playing four ball (aka partners better ball) same as you have seen in the Ryder Cup or Solheim Cup.  Everyone plays their own ball the same as in individual stroke play events, but the counting team score is the better of the 2 scores on a hole by hole basis.  We are NOT PLAYING SCRAMBLE. The unique aspect of this format, unlike individual play, is that partners can fully communicate and advise each other on ANYTHING.  Also, partner's may play in any order they like at any point on the course regardless of which one is away, so this brings certain strategies into play and why it's important for partners to communicate and help each other. This mostly comes into play on or around the greens.  For example, if player A has a 5 footer for par and played B has a fast down hill birdie putt from 20 feet, the team can elect to have player A putt first so if she makes it player B can be more aggressive on the down hiller and not worry about a three putt.
  • Best Dressed team - as in past years we have a tradition for players to dress up the second day.  Often this is matching outfits but does not have to be the case. It's a chance to be creative and express your team spirit and the overall best dressed team wins a free entry next year!
  • Spectators will be allowed but will need to sign waiver forms each day and will need to adhere to the published rules which means staying on the paths or in the tree lines and distant from the greens.  Spectators will be allowed to rent carts if available.  Spectators and players may NOT ride together. Spectators should only be in direct contact with players to provide food, drinks or medications.
  • Caddies will be allowed if desired one caddie per player.  Caddies may walk or they may ride. Caddies may ride with players (or individually subject to cart availability) but not with spectators.
  • Carts - any players may rent from the course and ride if they desire HOWEVER only players 18 and over can be drivers there are NO exceptions.  So, players under 18 can only ride if being a passenger with a driver 18 or older who is either another player or their caddie. Players may not ride with spectators.
